We had originally planned to hike Mt. Mitchell today but seeing as how the snow levels looked, we decided to go with this Gorge hike due to our lack of snowshoes. If we had hiked Mt. Mitchell before we might have gone but there will be lots of chances for that hike as it warms up. We started at the Bonneville Trailhead around 9 AM. Gillette Lake was nice -- the color of the water was nice. Had it been a little sunnier we might have got a better picture. From the lake we went up to Greenleaf Overlook and continued past it about another half mile when it crossed a road. That was our turn around point for the day. Saw a few people but all in all, a fairly quiet hike, especially for the Gorge. The wind was whipping up as usual but it was only when we stopped for lunch that we got a little chilly.
