Some personal items necessitated a trip out to the western edge of Pennsylvania. (All went well, by the way.) As Autumn colors had started to appear, I inserted in the trip a stop just off the highway at Laurel Hills State Park, keeping as needed and required social distance and masking.

Very nice park. Didn’t know much about it, but I sense the park features fishing as a major attraction, and stocks a lake for that purpose. I must admire ardent anglers, as they combine being in nature with all the technical skills and equipment of fishing, plus a honed sense of where to find fish and how to cast to catch them. All a mystery to me.

For my hike, I took the Hermit Trail. The trail runs as an easy rolling route along a babbling creek, pleasant with shade under a rich thick forest cover. I ventured off a bit down some embankments then over various rocks to get into the middle of the creek, for photos, and to just enjoy the early colors of autumn, and their reflection in the water. Didn’t stay long, as needed to complete the travel from New York to PA and back in a day. So this stop in Laurel Hills was part of resting to stay alert for the drive.

We still miss getting out way West to Arizona, but it is encouraging that we can find very enjoyable hikes, and immerse into nature, in less know locations such as Laurel Hill State Park. and as well all the very local New York City and Nassau locations I have ventured to as covered previous logs and photo sets.
