This pull off was particularly nice because the TH/parking area was right off the 101, parking was free and plentiful (for a weekday. There were over 30 parking spots, but I imagine that could fill up quickly on a summer weekend)). Beach access was just a few stairs from the parking area.
All the beaches we visited were very nice, however this one had a special charm for several reasons. It was more isolated. Most of the beaches we visited were paired with beach communities meaning there was a lot more beach activity. This beach had some interesting caves along the shoreline. None were very deep, but still cool to look at. It had a waterfall within .5 miles of the parking area. And even more interesting (to me) was a very rocky stagecoach route that went along the base of the cliff just above the surf. Can’t imagine the work that was involved in creating that route. Wife and I walked both directions along the beach enjoying the views. The waterfall and stage route are to the north of the parking area. Unfortunately the tide was coming in so I wasn’t able to explore the stage route more (it’s that close to the ocean). The tide didn’t affect the waterfall area. Very nice way to end the day. |
