Nice loop through the heart of Indian Heaven Wilderness to Elk Lake. Started on the Indian Heaven Trail #33 and finished on Cultus Creek #108. Only saw 3 groups totaling 5 people that were all headed out during my first hour on the trail, then I had the entire area to myself.

Partially chose to head up back to Indian Heaven to scout the larch trees after last weeks discovery. Only 1 larch tree visible from an overlook partway up Trail #33. Seems all the larch are clustered along FR24 near the Lemei Rock trail. Stopped on my way in to check some of them out- still mostly green, but I got lucky and stumbled upon 1 that was nearly in full color.

Beautiful as always in Indian Heaven. Meadows and small huckleberry bushes are in full color. Threatening clouds loomed overhead all day, but it only started to lightly rain as I descended Cultus Creek #108 for the last couple miles back to the trailhead.

Autumn Foliage Observation Moderate
Huckleberry bushes in full color. Larch along F24/Lemei Rock are beginning to change and easy to spot, but still probably 2 weeks from full color (that's my non-scientific best guess)
