| no partners | | No solitude on trails in the I-90 corridor. Got to the trailhead around 7:40 and already there were several groups getting ready to head out. Lots of trail work has been done near Talapus Lake. Saw a trail work party on the way back -- doing great work. Talapus Lake was a perfect mirror when I got there. Great reflections. Autumn colors are coming out with lots of red and oranges. Once on the Pratt Lake trail, Mt. Rainier was partially visible from the viewpoint of Ollalie Lake on my way in but was hidden in the clouds on the way out. Stopped by Rainbow Lake first, it was very nice -- almost no wind at all. Then hit Island Lake next. Water is so clear and it was a little chilly as the wind picked up after sweating on the way in. Had a snack and while I would have liked to stay a little longer, it was a little cool with the wind and a big group had arrived shortly after I did so there was no peace and quiet to be found today. All in all, a good day of hiking. |
