| no partners | | Seven years since I last did this hike so it was the first time since the fire that I'd been up here. Started from the Dalles Ridge trailhead. Road was rough in places but overall not too bad. Wildflowers are probably past their peak but still plentiful. Burned out sections are full of flowers and give you good views of the mountain. Saw a few people out on the trail including a couple of forest service employees doing trail maintenance (thanks!). Also ran into one hunter doing some scouting for deer season which opens up the first week in October. Apparently bear season has already started so be aware that you could encounter hunters in this area. Views from the top were great. No bugs and temps weren't bad either. |

| no partners | | The road is dusty but in pretty good shape. The trail was hot and dusty. Some clouds out but the views were still great. For the most part bugs weren't too bad, only at the very top of Noble Knob. A little stronger breeze would have been nice. Wildflowers are still out and look gorgeous. Lots of sun exposure on this hike so be prepared. Our GPS clocked today's hike in at just under 5 miles -- even shorter than the official trail off Corral Pass road. |
