Made the drive up to Silver Star Trailhead to try the north approach to the mountain. The last couple of miles to the trailhead is deeply rutted and I didn't see anyone else at the parking lot or for the entire time I was on trail.
It was a bit windy and chilly at the trailhead. Clouds were hanging super low and views were extremely limited, varying from anywhere between 100 yards to 1/4 mile at the most. Some of the leaves along the trail area starting to change colors, it definitely feels like fall is coming up fast.
Rounding a corner on the trail I came across an adult mountain goat and baby that were hanging out next to the trail. They were too close to the trail to pass them, so I hung out at a respectable distance for about 20 minutes or so taking video/photo with my phone through my binoculars. They didn't seem to mind my presence and eventually they scurried off and I moved on. |
