First cool day in quite some time, very cloudy and the smoke/ash that has been covering the city has finally started to recede. Made the drive up to Silver Star Trailhead to try the north approach to the mountain. The last couple of miles to the trailhead is deeply rutted and I didn't see anyone else at the parking lot or for the entire time I was on trail.

It was a bit windy and chilly at the trailhead. Clouds were hanging super low and views were extremely limited, varying from anywhere between 100 yards to 1/4 mile at the most. Some of the leaves along the trail area starting to change colors, it definitely feels like fall is coming up fast.

Rounding a corner on the trail I came across an adult mountain goat and baby that were hanging out next to the trail. They were too close to the trail to pass them, so I hung out at a respectable distance for about 20 minutes or so taking video/photo with my phone through my binoculars. They didn't seem to mind my presence and eventually they scurried off and I moved on.
