Even though we didn't get many views of the mountain today, seeing a bear right past the trailhead was the highlight. He was feasting on berries about 100 meters up above the start of the trail so that was a great way to start the day. Saw some pikas, tons of chipmunks and a mountain goat so while mountain views were not to be found, wildlife was! Dusty as usual on this trail but the wind kept the temps down and the bugs away. A fair number of people on the trail today but it wasn't too crowded. Parking lot was overflowing when we returned. Only a few wildflowers left at this time.

Another great day on the trail. Beautiful weather and not too hot out there today as there was a nice breeze along most of the trail. Hiked a little past Sourdough Gap on the PCT to get to a nice viewpoint of Mt. Rainier and Upper Crystal Lake. Bugs were not too bad (the breeze helped). Trail was dusty but overall in good shape.

Crystal clear skies this morning. Temps were nice as well -- not too hot. Lots of people camped at Sheep Lake. We continued on to Sourdough Gap which had great views of Mt. Adams. We were surprised it looked as good as it did considering the recent fires in that area. We continued on about another half mile to a great viewpoint of Mt. Rainier and Crystal Lake. Definitely worth the little extra effort. For once saw a good deal of wildlife. Passed two deer on 410 outside Enumclaw and saw a mountain goat way up above Sheep Lake (maybe he didn't know it was Sheep Lake and not Goat Lake). Saw lots of chipmunks, a grouse and several varieties of birds as well along the hike. Couldn't ask for a better day out on the trail.
