Tried to hike Cowpies / Mitten Ridge this past Saturday. Denied! Schnebly Hill Rd. is closed beyond the Huckaby / Marg's Draw trailhead.

My family does this hike at least 3 times a year, always in the spring and fall. The boulder scrambling is always fun for the kids (12 and 14), especially when the creek is flowing and it's more of a challenge to find a path up and around. We did the hike on Sunday, lots of water, beautiful waterfalls. Usually by this time of year you'll see lots of poppies and other flowers on the way up and throughout the canyon, but they're not out yet. The trees are still pretty bare too.
