| no partners | | I love hiking the Tom Thumb Trail. It is about 4.5 miles round trip...the first 35 minutes are a bit steep but after that it is great! Once you come to the junction where the East End Trail starts you can hike to the left and go about 100 yards (over boulders) and find the "Miner's Cave" which is quite interesting . It contains an old picnic table, many old miner items (tools, oil lamps, sand bags that make up a bed, etc). I made a log book to sign in if you get there. Then you continue on to the Thumb. If you go all the way to the base, you can get around to the opposite side and about 100 yards away is the "Ogre's Den" where hikers leave trinkets for good luck.....a little hard to find the first time....I would be happy to lead you up there....just shoot me an e-mail gwojton@hotmail.com
Happy Hiking! Gary |
