Decided to try this instead of West Fork of Oak Creek, trying to see some fall colors. It was a lot less crowded, but there were several large groups of boyscouts (I think maybe 4 groups with a total of 50-60 hikers...they looked like they were going to camp overnight). There wasn't a lot of color, the maples are not nearly as dense as West Fork. The oaks seem to have gone straight from green to brown :( However, there's a lot more water than West Fork :) , so I did manage to find a few spots where the color and creek converged. I only made it up about 1/2 way the trail, I was stopping to explore a lot, so maybe there's more color near the rim.

Hiked in early Saturday morning (the gate was closed, had to park at a pullout on 89A). It's probably a week or so before peak fall colors, still lots of green and yellow. some isolated areas the oak leaves have turned reddish but not full-on red/orange.
