Just hiked Devil's Canyon yesterday. My toyota 4x4 had a rough time over the hill. We parked at the top but on the way back, we wished we had made it all the way to the windmill in the 4x4. I brought 3 liters of water with me and nearly drank it all. The hike in was tough with much scrambling and way too much bushwacking. I have a nice scratch on my face and too many scratches to count on my arms and legs. The hike was much more difficult than I expected. It was very tempting to jump into the water from the top of the first pool but because of all of the moss and stagnant water, I ultimately decided to turn around at that point. I will return during spring run-off or after the monsoons have cleared the water.

The hike out was very difficult. The humidity at the bottom of the canyon along with the heat and sun on the way up Hackberry Creek made the hike extra difficult. Be prepared with pleanty of water and with appropriate clothing.

I cannot wait to do this hike again when water is flowing through the canyon. I can hear the plunge pools calling my name.

That was my forth trip to Cibecue Creek. IMO Cibecue is second best only to Havasupai!
