| no partners | | Took my parents on this hike beautiful hike. It was the first trip here for all three of us. The first impression was wonderful in the visitor center, with those ladies being quite nice and the restrooms being clean (always a big plus!) We obtained our free pass to use the cave trail. The trail was very clear, no guessing as to where the path was. It is steepish and rocky once you go a little way. My parents, age 76 and 65, made it fine with rest breaks to look out over the beautiful scenery. They used their hiking sticks, which I recommend if you that helps you. Once at the cave, the most nervous part is just getting in and going the first few yards, as the rock wants to slide. After just a little way there is no sliding rock, just dirt. The cave is dry inside, not damp. We saw one man with his light on his hat which would have been quite helpful, so your hands would be free to help lower yourself or hang on to the rocks to get in. Nothing dangerous! Once in go straight forward. That is where we ventured to and saw fabulous formations. Other folks were telling us there were several other rooms and even other openings but that we have yet to explore on a next adventure. My parents enjoyed this so much they plan to bring my sister on her visit to Arizona. |
