The reroute is intended to route cyclists around, rather than down the sandy, rocky monstrosity that is the Yetman Wash.
Given all the local palaver about the project, I figured all I'd need do would be to perform a simple Google search to find a record of the proposed new route. Au contraire! Search after countless searches yielded zero, zip, zilch, nada (how'd that get in here?) info about where the actual trail would run relative to the existing route which runs right IN the wash for a couple of miles. Rumor had it that some of Tucson's hiking & biking hierarchy had recently walked, and flagged the proposed route. So, given the dearth of REAL trail info, I figured who better than everyone's favorite HAZer, ME (SAMBA) (aka LaFong), to take his state-of-the-art Oregon 450t, and create one of OUR own. But, as my peripatetic digital record shows the flagging was more rumor than reality. There was flagging, but they were most definitely NOT obviously placed. I made a good faith effort, though, to bring you, my HAZ peeps, the most up-to-date digital record currently to be found on the Net, or any public place, for that matter.
If you decide to go to the SDMB Pint Night Yetman Wash Reroute Fundraiser, https://www.facebook.com/events/221923627975596/, feel free to say you know SAMBA (aka LaFong). Oh yeah, in lieu of kudos, feel free to buy SAMBA (aka LaFong) a pint or two to show your appreciation for the exemplary efforts he, and his state-of-the-art Oregon 450t put forth on YOUR behalf today. |
