Driving to either trail head (East or West) was not difficult as the signing through the mine turned out to be pretty good. FS287A is in very good shape, in fact, a passenger car could do it if taken carefully. We took the West trail head and found that entire section into Tony Cabin to be a little overgrown but certainly not a problem. Water flowing wonderfully all along the route, especially in Haunted Canyon by Tony Cabin. The cabin itself is still virtually the same as in past years. No vandalism or problems. We went in a couple of days after a good rain and saw many animal track but no human tracks which leads us to think this area is getting very little use (OK by us). I have GPS coordinates of anything you would like, just email me if you need them.
