Banos is a town located at the gateway of the rainforest, and there are MANY outdoor activities such as hikes to the active Tungurahua volcano, canyoneering, canopying, and others. There are many waterfalls there, but the biggest is called El Pailon del Diablo, which means the devil's pot, named after the bottom of the waterfall. The hike towards the waterfall is all downwards, so it's easy to get there, but quite the exercise coming back up from the elevation. There is a hanging bridge at the waterfall, lookout points to take pictures by the waterfall, and ''grieta al cielo'' which means crevice to the heavens. It is a visually stimulating spectacular hike and is highly recommended! |
