Went with my buddy Franco who does 100 mile bike rides so we had a great pace and he pushed hard that last mile which is a tough one! There was plenty of still water and even some trickling down a small waterfall about 1.5 to 2 miles from the window. I would have to check my track since I marked it as a waypoint. I collected some and increased my consumption so I definitely did not run out. Tried out my new supercat alcohol stove with heineken pot which is awesome by the way. Very few hikers compared to finger rock and Pima canyon which seemed odd to me because I liked this one better. Some snow in the upper reaches by the window but nothin you need to bring poles or special shoes for. The trail is in excellent shape and I am amazed at how much of it is just dirt trail with few rock sections. Very easy to navigate and I didn't need to check my gps aside from the constant "Good lord how long are these last two miles out of the canyon!". I would do this one again for sure. Oh and by the way the 7.5 hours is with an hour of cooking and half-sleeping on some rocks above and east of the window. So total travel time without that would have been 6.5. I figure I better include it because you GOTTA stop and hang out when you go all that way! |
