Ran this today and it really lived up to its' name. Rough, rocky, and steep. The climb out of Tonto creek really trashed my legs. Went light with just a Nathan running vest with 2l of water plus some energy gels and a camera and an extra 20 oz handheld. Filtered water at Tonto creek just in case for the way back and really needed it.

Note to anyone considering running this: use trail running shoes with some beefy underfoot protection and aggressive lugging or you will regret it.

Ran/stumbled up Y-bar, then north on the divide trail and down Barnhardt. Had a nice dip in the pool under the small waterfall on Barnhardt. Plenty of water available along the way up Y-bar after about the 4 mile mark. Nice wildflowers and cactus in bloom.

Trail runners take note: Use shoes with a beefy rockplate and plenty of cushioning and long shorts/high socks as the divide trail is very narrow with lots of brush to cut up your legs.
