Originally I was planning to use the route that Belinda had posted to knock off both Bushmaster and Tower, but I didn’t realize how many fun little rock formations / nice viewpoints / other areas along the way there would be to explore. Since I didn’t hit the trails until after 12 PM, I decided to just take my time to enjoy / explore these things rather than simply go after the two peaks.

After reaching the highpoint of Bushmaster, I continued along the ridgeline, which was a beautiful and fun traverse. There appeared to be several other routes leading up the mountain/ridgeline, and as I made my way to the other end, I starting toying with the idea of trying a different way down. The possibilities from this end of the ridgeline looked a lot more fun, involving my favorite [boulder-hopping and drainage travel!]. When possible, I also like to incorporate loops over out ’n’ backs for different scenery; and, as an added bonus, doing a loop meant I would avoid having to go down the section I described in the Description with very loose footing, [as well as several other steep sections with moderately loose footing], neither of which I was looking forward to.

Things worked out much better than anticipated. Instead of having to backtrack after reaching the end of the ridgeline, the boulders were spaced just enough distance apart to be able to get down the cliffy section, [and without any dicey moments]. I then rode a fun drainage with minimal brush and nice solid boulders the rest of the way down. After that, the relatively flat rest of the way back to the parking area was literally a walk through the park!
