We hiked the Prescott Circle Trail portion of this loop... only the west to east on the south boundary of the park. We did not do the "loop". (I should add that we attempted the loop a year or two ago but the east end of the lake had flooded the trail and it was not passable. And on another occasion we attempted it from the North access and the rock climbing got us stopped.) We started at the dog park TH. This is an acknowledged birding area and there were folks with tripods and equipment (cameras? binoculars) enjoying the wild life from the edge of the lake. The east end where we exited, there is a milkweed patch where migrating Monarchs are seen (and counted) every year. The trail is smooth and wide and usually has very good footing ... some mud there though today due to recent precipitation. There is a gentle rise in the middle but it is for the most part the trail is fairly flat.

We hiked West to East thinking there would be less climbing. Parked at Brownlow TH. There is parking at Keubler Field very close to the culvert under Commerce way which would have been nicer since the hike into the start point from Brownlow was on the road shoulder and through some graded construction areas. The culvert, at Keubler field, was good, clear despite recent snow and rain. The first section was behind the City construction/maintenance yard and then the ball park .. not scenic. The trail then entered Embry Riddle private property. That was a nice area. Gentle up and down. Some toe stubbing rocks. Lots of scattered trails, probably the Univ students use all those hiking trails a lot. There were signs posted about a "mastication" project advising staying out. I'm thinking they were constructing a fire break and were doing brush grinding. We managed to take a wrong turn... I think onto an access point behind the County Health services buildings. I think you could access from there, actually. We turned the wrong way onto that access trail which I believe was also marked with the PCT Prescott Circle Trail signs intended to be leading out to PCT from the Co Health services. Plenty of trails to take although, being private property, I assume that the permission is for the PCT only, as marked. Eventually we found our way out to the culvert under Willow Creek Rd on the east end of the trail. That culvert was also nice and clear. All in all, the footing, despite recent precipitation, was reasonably good... decomposed granite soil, not mud. From the culvert (which put us back onto the trail) we followed an open scenic trail around Willow Lake south to the dog park TH. Willow Lake is a birding area and has seasonally migrating Monarchs in the Milkweed at the east/southeast (opposite) end.
