Description: Mine shafts and adits were the primary way that any money was made in old territorial Arizona. Gold, copper, silver, uranium, and other minerals have been scraped out of the rocks of the southwest, totaling billions of dollars worth of profit for the mine owners, saloon owners, brothel owners, bank owners, hotel owners, and rooming house owners, but bare few dollars stayed with the miners. They all started with the mine shaft. Whether a simple "dog hole" one person deal or a large, complex mining operation with multiple headframes and a ventilation system, if it is a manmade hole in the ground used to take out rocks or minerals, this is the label for it.
