Another great trip along the Tonto trail. This is definetly one of my favorite trails, but this section was just way too short. The South Kaibab was as popular as ever and I got the usual share of bewildered looks as I went running by in some sections. There was this huge condor (#74) perched on the side of the trail that looked absoltely amazing and wasn't scared at all of the gawking humans. The Tonto turnoff is marked with a small sign just before the tipoff. I saw some deer just after the turnoff, hiked around the Butte and into Pine canyon, and before you know it you're already at Indian Gardens. With all the extra time, I just had to made a trip out to Plateau Point. Briefly rested at Indian Gardens before making the long trek out of the canyon. I didn't train up for this GC hike, but it turns out I'm still in pretty good shape. I was able to hold a fairly good pace until I hit the 3/4 arch. After that I was hiking about half pace along with all the tourists back up to the rim. :D
