I parked on 627 and headed down. About a hundred feet later, I was hopping over a fence . I threw by backpack over first and then automatically put to much weight on my bad ankle. It would happen 3 more times during the day, one time it took my breath away and I thought I was gonna heave :o . I bushwacked maybe a .1 of a mile and then hit 25 and on to 25a. This time I decided to go up McFarland Canyon. McFarland had reminders of a distant past and also of the not so distant grow site. I saw 4 or 5 pieces of black tubing.

The old truck that used to be near the road has now become one with several trees. I also saw lots of mining relics and tin cans and bottles. McFarland Canyon was flowing in many places and had nice pools of water. Good thing I had 10 quarts of water with me. I had planned on caching near a nice campsite and I did.

I headed up Sheep Creek and over to Squaw Flat. I had lunch that my daughter had made for me and then headed toward Sheep Mountain. I decided to hit the obscure peak 5621...one I'm sure my friend Richard hasn't done. I realized I didn't have my field glasses with me ](*,) but you can see a long way since the burn. My ankle started bothering me a bit so I decided to head back. I ended up being in a familiar place. I was going down the same drainage I had passed thru on my way to Sheep last time out.
