No restrooms, portajohns, or water, at Mt Rose Trailhead (N39° 18.773' W119° 53.853'), Elevation 8,911' This is a very popular trailhead, especially on weekends. Best to hike this trail during the week. Trailhead to Galena Creek Waterfall (N39° 18.773' W119° 53.853'); Elevation is 9,046' - 2.5 miles; AEG: 368'; Galena Waterfall is a popular turn around point. Tree canopy covered trail for most of the 2.5 miles. Galena Creek Waterfall to bottom of Draw (N39° 20.009' W119° 55.373'); Elevation 9,182' - This is an open & exposed part of the trail that parallels a meadow & heads toward Mt Rose. Bottom of Draw to Trail Junction Sign (N39° 20.397' W119° 55.824'); Elevation 9,762'- 0.8 of a mile; Elevation gain: 552'; nice tree canopy for most of this step hike up the draw. Trail Junction Sign to Bronco Creek (N39° 20.828' W119° 55.918'); 1.7 miles; Elevation Descent of 444'; Bronco Creek elevation is 9,382' - this is an excellent perennial creek & a place to camel-up & or take a nutrition break. Be sure to take some photos here. This part of the hike is downhill, easy peasy, & mostly tree canopied. There is a short stretch that crosses an open meadow, just before making your final descent to Bronco Creek. You'll be backtracking to the Mt Rose Trailhead; 5.4 miles. Check out the Official Route.
