The popular, scenic, and historic "Wheeler Peak Wilderness" LOOP DRIVING ROUTE with a few extra driving side trip stops to included:
1.. Trip START at the Taos, NM, Ski Village (from 14.8mls up CO 150 at the Wheeler Peak TH/TR90 Start);
2.. A stop off CO 38 in Questa,NM, at the responsible Wheeler Peak Wilderness Questa Ranger Station;
3.. In Red River, NM, a scenic drive to/back on CO 578 to CO 58A to TH Start for "Sawmill Park TH/TR55 via TR56;
4.. In Eagle Nest, NM, a short drive through this historic town on CO 64 East to a scenic viewpoint (with potty) of large and popular Eagle Nest Lake State Park;
5.. Back to CO 64 West, then South to later exit on CO 434 South to have lunch in popular winter Ski Resort- Angel Fire, NM (at cheap with good eats- YU GARDEN Chinese Restaurant;
6.. Later END scenic driving loop back in Taos, NM, (north of town) on CO 64 at the intersections of CO 64/522/150.. Note: if you are driving back to Taos Ski Valley via CO 150, add an additional 14.8 miles to your 124 mile trip;
