    West Side Ride
I got invited for a ride around the west valley bike trails with a couple friends from work. Made a loop with Grand Canal west around Cardinals Stadium to New River and then north to the Arizona Canal and back. The canal paths were nice and smooth. Took a break across from the Glendale Airport and watched some planes take off. The New River path was my favorite. We followed this beautiful path as it wound in and out of the wash and along its banks. The underpasses were a challenge coming up out of later in the morning. It is great that there are drinking fountains along this whole section. We had a great time!

Humid and cloudy day so got out for a quick morning schvitz before the oven turned up too high....cyclist saw an injured red-tail hawk but I couldn't find it...lots of smaller birds and some quails...many vultures in an area not too far away and a pungent stink - it appears the circle of life is still turning even in my backyard.

Just discovered this mild multi-use in my backyard - no joke, trail access is only about a mile from home. It's nice and rare to have off-street paved trails.

Went with a mate from work this morning and wrapped up before we started to cook in the heat. Began at 99th and Camelback, shot up 107th to catch the trailhead at the Glendale recharge ponds, then continued on through Skunk Creek in Peoria. Glad to have found my nearby fresh air.
