Red Knolls is a unique geological formation that lies in an area locally know as the "Pima Badlands" just off of US Highway 70. The natural ampitheater formation is looped by a primitive 1 mile dirt road that can be traveled by motor vehicle, mountain bike or on foot.

    To hike
    From US 70 & 191 in Safford, take US 70 west through Thatcher & Pima for approximately 16 miles. At Bryce-Eden Rd, turn Left across the highway onto the dirt road and over the railroad tracks. Take this dirt road 1 mile and park.
