The Rincon La Vaca trail is 5.3 miles long. It begins at Forest Trail 523 - Pine River Trail. and ends at Forest Trail 813 - Cont. Divide Trail. The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking, Horseback Riding

This trail was once called the Highline Trail and later was renamed the Opal Lake Trail. The USFS has not maintained the trail in over 20 years and sections below the treeline are littered with deadfall. Despite the lack of maintenance on this old trail, it receives regular use by hikers accessing Rio Grande Pyramid and the Window. (Most older maps label it as Highline, Opal Lake, or both).
