This somewhat rugged trail connects Will Rogers State Historic Park and Sullivan’s Ridge. The trail dips down into Rustic Canyon and crisscrosses the creek that follows along the bottom, creating muddy areas, especially after a large rain. The bottom of the canyon is well-shaded with significant vegetation and large trees. Rustic Canyon is also home to the decaying ruins of Murphy’s Ranch, built in the early 20th century and abandoned after a fire in 1978.
The trail is accessible from the staging area near the polo field at Will Rogers State Historic Park. From PCH, head east on Temescal Canyon Rd. Take the second right onto Sunset Blvd. Turn left onto Will Rogers State Park Rd. Staging areas will be on the left.
When hiking several trails on a single "hike", log it with a generic name that describes the hike. Then link the trails traveled, check out the example.
