Oh boy, a route to scout! by The_Eagle Overview
This is another of the old Boy Scout routes from the Pine Canyon area to the top of the Mogollon Rim. The route comes from an old map created by the Boy Scouts. The maps say that this used to be part of what they called the Canyon Route. It connected with and created a loop with the East Rim Trail. Hike This description starts at Pine Canyon Trail #26. There is a small cairn currently at the start of this route. The first portion of this route is on the old alignment of the Pine Canyon #26 Trail, prior to numerous switchbacks added in the area.
The route eventually makes it over to the canyon floor for the climb up the canyon. The posted Official Route shows some but not all of the tags I found. It also shows where I lost the tags and turned back. At this point, the downfall was getting thick. The remainder of the route was drawn using the Scout map I had. It may be better trying from the top down. Check out the Official Route and Triplog. Leave No Trace and +Add a Triplog after your hike to support this local community. One-Way Notice This hike is listed as One-Way. When hiking several trails on a single "hike", log it with a generic name that describes the hike. Then link the trails traveled, check out the example. |
