Oh boy, a route to scout!
This is another of the old Boy Scout routes from the Pine Canyon area to the top of the Mogollon Rim. The route comes from an old map created by the Boy Scouts. The maps say that this used to be part of what they called the Canyon Route. It connected with and created a loop with the East Rim Trail.
This description starts at Pine Canyon Trail #26. There is a small cairn currently at the start of this route. The first portion of this route is on the old alignment of the Pine Canyon #26 Trail, prior to numerous switchbacks added in the area.
As per other Scout routes/trails in the area, keep an eye for the familiar red tags marking the way. Many of the tags have faded to silver, and some are on trees that have fallen to the ground.
The route eventually makes it over to the canyon floor for the climb up the canyon. The posted Official Route shows some but not all of the tags I found. It also shows where I lost the tags and turned back. At this point, the downfall was getting thick.
The remainder of the route was drawn using the Scout map I had. It may be better trying from the top down.
Check out the Official Route and Triplog.
This hike is listed as One-Way.
When hiking several trails on a single "hike", log it with a generic name that describes the hike. Then link the trails traveled, check out the example.
