lighting what exactly? by eru Overview A rolling trail to a nice arch you can walk on. You can cross country up from the Wildcat Tank Hoodoos and walk along the road for a longer hike, or if you have a proper vehicle drive up to the trailhead for a short ~2-mile loop. Hike There's an NPS sign at a reasonably sized parking lot, the trail continues along the ridge. It's a moderately popular spot to drive to, we saw a few groups there that drove up in trucks. The trail itself is pretty easy to follow, but does become faint in a few places and has some steepish loose sections to it, so proper shoes/boots will help. It's sort of hard to get lost given the terrain constraints. The arch itself is at a cairned spur (the main trail continues past it) that you could pass by, but once you're in the area you'll find it. It's neat to both look through and walk over. You can wander around to various points for views of the general area, Wildcat Tank Hoodoos, or the Amangiri resort nearby. There is no water and no shade, but it's short. When hiking several trails on a single "hike", log it with a generic name that describes the hike. Then link the trails traveled, check out the example. |
