Margies Cove Trail, AZ :: Passenger Car Accessible?
Anyone know if this trail is accessible with a passenger car? Is the dirt graded or do you need high clearance to get through washes or rises and the like? Thanks, Eric

Superstitions Board Game
This is distantly hiking related. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crashgames/legend-of-the-lost-dutchman I have no affiliation with game maker, I stumbled on this while surfing around. They are attempting to produce the Legend of the Lost Dutchman board game, set appropriately in the Superstitio...

Credit cards or cash or an ipod or anything for a quick hit in a beater is just as good as the ones in a Ferrari. Not sure about break-ins without google, but more beaters are stolen than nice cars. Just letting folks know...not that we're not aware already it happens.

Theft at 32nd/Lincoln TH for Phx Mtn Preserve
A friend's car was broken into there on Friday after work. All the good stuff stolen and a smashed window. Just a heads up that it may be a new target spot.

Hikathon in Phoenix
I don't know many details, but a friend participates in this hikathon to raise money for youth, so I said I'd post here if anyone is interested. I do not think the hikes are crazy wilderness style; local hikes at the local parks...which can still be fun. If anyone is interested in this here's the li...

Hey, thanks Cannon. That's good info. I'm heading out to Kofa this weekend, but a friend is going to go to Skunk Creek and get some fresh tracks. Appreciate it.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Will try to hit as many as we can, plus some others. That camera trap photo is nice to know about, thanks Joe.

Re: Recent tracks sitings...cougar preferably
Yeah, snow won't work, but the mud is great substrate, thanks, I may check that area. Thanks Paul, Sierra Ancha was on the bear list. I've almost always seen good sign in there when I think back. Has anyone been in there in the last week and seen some on a particular trail? I am totally taking the e...

Recent tracks sitings...cougar preferably
I'd like to get some molds of tracks this weekend. I had some ideas on where I am going, but figured I'd tap into this resource as no other entity covers more ground in AZ. So, a good cougar and bear track is what I need to get. In the last couple days has anyone seen any on a hike? Even within the ...

Re: Mexican Wolf numbers fall
I haven't seen the actual bill, but the link above only says gray wolf and does not list species name. Very possible the bill does not include the Mexican gray wolf (Canis lupus baileyi), only the gray wolf. I haven't heard any talk on the street of the Mexi being delisted.

Re: Hike in the Eagletail Wilderness
@sjking I won't be able to hike this Sat, but I am interested in preserving the Eagletails...I spend a lot of time in the nooks and crannies of those mountains. Is there something particular that is threatening the Wilderness? I am aware of the possible wind power plant that could be slated to the ...

Good ideas, ultimately I probably go with Chaos on leaving it wild. I'd throw out the idea though of some sort of memorial or statue on top of Sheep.

@Tough_Boots
TB, I covered 5 top to bottom and adjacent ridges to 4b and 6 pretty heavy yesterday.. Brian also hit between 5 and 4b with Kenny I believe. We felt coming down in that area was very doable. Second and third passes definitely wouldn't hurt. Concur on 3 and 4 being promising as well.

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Reposting this here for folks not on the backpack thread: I covered 5 and 6 this morning and the ridges adjacent. I also took a look at the beginning of 3 and 4 as I want to hit these...initially not as much brush, but that could change further up. I feel it possible that if Joe made it to Sheep, he...

@chumley
Ok thanks. Interesting. There's a documented nest about a mile away from that location that failed this past breeding season if I recall correctly.

Are those eagles nesting there at Tempe Marketplace, or are these the Dobson pair perching over there?
