Bobcat Attack at Mt Graham Campground

Don't remember this from Aug but really sad as entire group of 15 had to visit the ER I think 4 times for the 2 week rabies treatment. ( vaccine ) Sounds like rural ER's don't see many people for rabies treatment so a total of 3 different ER's and travel by the family were involved. Wasn't there ano...

Re: Missing Snowshoes on Mt Ord ( FOUND!!!! )

snowshoes have been recovered and appear to be in very good condition! a couple out sightseeing were walking the still closed/gated road saw my lost sign and located just 1 shoe in the ditch. I went back and was able to locate the other snowshoe not too far off also in the ditch. How do we delete th...

Missing Snowshoes on Mt Ord [Found]

My snowshoes went missing yesterday afternoon ( February 24 ) during my trek up Mt Ord via 626 main road. I thought I hide them pretty well under the snow just b/4 the pavement ends nearly a half mile from the locked gate but when I returned they were nowhere to be found but there were signs of near...

Re: Mount baldy loop camping spots and water sources

@DixieFlyer
Great feedback as I hope people are careful around all those potential widow makers especially on breezy days.

Some areas of Baldy have miles of dead and dying trees.

Re: Mount baldy loop camping spots and water sources

didn't several comment that Baldy is a very bad choice when wind is an issue?

Wonder if anyone hiked it today as wind was forecasted to be an issue?

Crazy to see trees falling left and right during a hike.

Did anyone get pictures of the mess for the ranger.

Re: State Rt 67

Strange as both ADOT and NPS announced many weeks ago it was Dec 1. I just phoned the GC BCO and the park gate is locked till May 15. I would hate to find the NPS gate locked after making plans and especially the long drive. NPS has always said they don't have the staff to keep the gate open after D...

Re: State Rt 67

I think ADOT is now firm on the winter Closures for SR 67 being today Dec 1 and it will be closed until at least May 15.

They follow NPS which locks the park gate on their end for the winter.

Re: 360 cameras

What was used for GC South Kaibab footage as many scenes in Street View are simply incredible? They even have great shots of the Boat Beach water faucet and emergency phone. One can really get a good idea of what to expect as you can literally walk the trail from your computer either up or down to P...

Is there an emergency phone at boat beach as there is no mention of this on NPS website?

Re: Route Scout - GPS Topo Mapper & Recorder

I downloaded and tested latest for Android with mixed results. Biggest issue was no audio when used with Slacker. Worked fine with Slacker before latest update except RS audio volume not loud when song active. Otherwise RS is an awesome app. the cogs icon in the upper right takes you to settings ( T...

wmicentral is reporting Stage I and II Fire Restrictions are being lifted for the entire Apache-Sitgreaves on July 11 due to rain throughout the area.

I do not see this yet advertised on ASNF site or the AZ site which is suppose to cover the entire state?
