Re: Oh, to Glacier or not?

How often do you make it up to that part of the country?

I try to get up there once a year, and the drive or flight is pretty boring, next summer a couple friends from minneapolis and I are thinking about doing the winds, if your interested there would more than likely be room

Re: Oh, to Glacier or not?

Ive been in both yellowstone and glacier, and the backcountry in glacier has always seemed far more crowded than in yellowstone I wouldnt worry too much about bears if you do go to glacier, every camp ive stayed at has had at least 2-4 other groups there as well, the western side is a bit more wild,...

Gates of the Arctic NP

Ive began my planning for a trip I will take next summer and was wondering if any Hike AZ'ers have been in the region before. I will be traveling to Bettles, AK for a trip up into the Gates of the Artic. Info is a bit sparse for the region, now I know there aren't any trails within the park, instead...

Re: Yellowstone National Park Recommendations?

The Shoshone geyser basin is fairly accessible, I know there is a shorter trail to it that isn’t used as much, I’ve only gone the whole way around the lake though so I dunno how the trail is. But the geysers are very cool, and regularly erupt ~10ft high and there are plenty of hot springs around it

Re: How long does it take a fallen tree to fully decompose?

the lignin in wood is highly resistant to degradation, very few things degrade it and most are specialized fungi, not someting you see in the dry forests of AZ, a good burn and that thing will be gone....... not wishing that on humphreys though wood that is high in lignin will also burn hotter and l...
