Re: 3 year old's first night out...

I figured I would swing back by for a quick update! Our trip to Aspen Spring was awesome! It poured the whole drive up and I was freaking out. Thankfully the rain let up as pulled onto the dirt roads and it never rained again! Amazing luck. My son didn't love hiking with a pack, but we managed to ma...

Re: 3 year old's first night out...

Te-wa!!! I've been to busy to even come up for air. Good news is, I recently sold my business and Crue, my little man, is getting old enough to go do stuff! So hopefully I'll be showing up in the woods a little more often. I'm so glad you're still roaming around the forums, I've got a lot of catchin...

Re: 3 year old's first night out...

I would love to do backyard camping....but it's to dang hot out! We have a boat at Canyon Lake that we sleep on frequently, so thankfully he has many nights in his sleeping bag on the boat. I am pretty confident he will be just fine. If not, it will be a long sleepless night. I'll make sure to bring...

Re: 3 year old's first night out...

Joel, thanks for taking the time to post that much! Those links are awesome. I'll dig through all of them carefully and probably end up with our first few trips planned. Thanks.

Re: 3 year old's first night out...

That's good to know about the water. I wasn't thinking swimming exactly, but at least throwing some rocks in or exploring the creek. I think it still sounds like a good spot for sure. Thanks!

3 year old's first night out...

Something I've been wanting to do since way before he was even in the plans!! I want to take my son backpacking. He is 3, and backpacking may look a lot like walking a couple hundred yards from the car but I want him to live out of my backpack for a night. I personally am a hammock guy, but I think ...

So bummed...I have a freakin' huge work conference that weekend in Tampa, FL. Swing just one time in the hammock for me...and pour one out for your homey who is stuck at work!

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)

This is looking like a bust, maybe I just waited to long, should have done it in Oct like we had originally planned.

If I don't get at least 3 others signed up by Wen I will cancel and shot for it again towards the end of winter.

Re: 1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)

Might not be a terrible idea to crash the party at Reavis Ranch. It's a little longer of a hike...but not that big of a deal. Something to consider if anyone has the brown bags enough to sign up!

1st Annual Brown Bag Challenge! (The BBC)

It's official! We were hoping to do this in Oct. but I had a wedding, and a new job in the way. So it's on for the first weekend in Nov! Rules: Your "backpack" or "bag" has to be a brown grocery bag (handles are ok). You can use duct tape to reinforce your bag as needed...but the more you use the mo...

Re: The Brown Bag Challenge!

Weekdays are great for me, but that's going to weed out to many people. We will go with a weekend for sure. That weekend might be perfect.

Tentatitvely mark that as the weekend and we will revaluate in a few weeks.

Re: The Brown Bag Challenge!

I am still working on dates for this, but it looks like monsoon afternoon storms are going strong for the next week. I am thinking late Sept would be a good time.

What are you guys thinking. That would give us enough time to perfect our brown bags!
