Bicycle Showcase! They rock! I bought my Klein there a couple years ago... gave me a discounted Bell helmet AND FREE Sidi shoes!!! Don't let the price tag fool you, they'll work a deal if you loiter there too many times 8) The owner, Dave, is an awesome guy. He still races a bit, but has YEARS of ex...

good topic, off trail is the way to go ... I get to go places and see things that most others dont and often feel alone and MORE away from the, to put it nicely, less-than-avid-hikers ... The challenges are easier to find but require more skill to deal with and the scenery is just indescribable.

"I say guns are important tools and everyone should own one and know how to use it." I agree with everything with everything else in your post, BUT this statement. Everyone? Not everyone is responsible enough to own a gun, too many idiots in the world. It would be a good way to thin out th...

Blue Range Primitive Area, the Highline trail or anything in the high country in Eastern AZ. Canyon country, although I don't like Sedona or the Grand Canyon much.. too many people for my tastes. Also a bit off-topic for Arizona but the Sierra Nevada. I hear ya on the people thing, it's just damned...

So far everywhere I've hiked in AZ I've gotten lost and loved every moment! :) Arizona is rugged and beautiful! My favorite lost adventures to date happen in Verde Valley/Sedona.
I never worry about damaging the environment. I just be carefull and jump over all the flowers. I did that on Agassiz peak near Flagstaff. The peak is illigal to hike because of the tundra. The thing I am concerned about is that it is class 4. :( Ussually class 3 is my limit. I know ...

Re: can you hike to the top?
I have read that the trail does not go to the top. Is it possible to get off the trail and head to the top? I dont like hiking mountains if the trail comes up short from finishing the peak and I am not allowed to jump trail to finish the mountain. :?:
Yeah, that's the way I f...

Manicured

I hiked the trail a couple days before it opened, yep I trespassed! Thought it was very neatly (too neat!) done and not technical in any way. We went off trail and did some bouldering, of course minding the vegetation and keeping to the rocks, that was pretty cool. The trail is not for the...
