@azbackpackr San Bernardino County's website has clarified you do not need a face covering in a car when traveling alone or with members of your household, as long as the windows stay closed.

I had been eying this event all week, but commitment is a scary thing for me. Would be willing to go if you still want to.

Re: "Okay" camera vs. "GREAT" camera
I recently bought a mirrorless and like it quite a bit. I wasn't in the market for a mirrorless, but wanted something for scuba diving and realized I could get a nikon 1 j4 (discontinued) and the accompanying waterproof case for the price of a gopro. It will be what I take hiking whenever I get to d...

Re: Bisbee
@Bradshaws It doesn't have parking of its own. We parked in the lots digging into the hill behind the hotel. The parking rules governing them weren't in force the day we were there (a Sunday night.) Worst case, you can park in the short term parking while you unload, then the hotel owners will let ...

Re: Bisbee
@Bradshaws My wife and I stayed at the Letson Loft (I assume thats what you mean) back in November. We liked it a lot. We never really got past the touristy section of Bisbee, but weren't trying that hard. We ate at a restaurant recommended to us, the Bisbee Table I think, and to be honest I was di...

Not that it makes it right, but I'm wondering if it was a stray bullet. I haven't read anything indicating whether it was shot more than once.

Looks like they are choosing to discriminate against slow hikers like me by going with meters:

Re: Phoenix trailhead parking fees city council vote
What skatchkins says above rings very true for me; I'm always thinking about going to my local maricopa county park (usery) to hike around, but I just get angrier and angrier thinking about paying $6 just to park. I end up either not going or driving somewhere else, farther away. Usery especially ir...

Re: Urban Waterfalls?
we had some of our engagement photos taken at the waterfall in freestone park in gilbert. It was suggested by our photographers (then we went over to lost dutchman for sunset photos). The third photo in the below link shows a picture of the spot: http://tracykloock.wordpress.com/2010/10/26/freestone...

Re: Broken Ankle
Hesitate to post, since this was a different injury, but may have enough similarities to be useful. You might ask the doctor to compare recovery for your injury to recovery for mine. I messed up all the outside ligaments in my left ankle 2 years ago, coming down from Superstition 5057. It was 2 tota...

Re: day use only....only
pitch a tent If only camping were that simple for everyone. It would be great if they could come up with some definition of 'low impact camping' and allow that. Maybe if camping was allowed only a minimum distance from the roads, say half a mile, it would cut out the kind of camping the area couldn...

Re: Camera lust
@hippiepunkpirate Thanks for the awesome response; I'm probably just being too argumentative. I get that way. I guess I just found that style quote as a little trite. Your response is anything but trite. I think a lot of what you call style, I'm just considering as quality. I'm an opportunistic sho...

Re: Camera lust
@hippiepunkpirate I don't think you want me pursuing a personal style :scared: . I just want to take good pictures that share what I experienced. Peronally, I would encourage anyone with the means and interest in photography to get an slr, in addition to the compact. There are lots of nuances compa...

I was thinking of jack's too, but also haven't been there for years. I certainly wouldn't drive out of my way just to try it, again, and it probably is out of your way. take this with a grain of salt because i haven't eaten here in years, but jack's original bbq on the east side used to have a reput...

it's the equipment that sets the photographer apart from the rest I generally agree with a lot of what you say except for this. The persistent theme I hear in reading about/looking at wildlife photography is about getting close. I've been going to some of the national geo lectures they have at the ...

I'd pretty much agree with this article, and azbackpacker. Someone gave me a book recently (I think they were trying to tell me something :sl: ) all about composition, The Photographers Eye. Its got me pretty excited. I've read it through twice already, and will probably read it again a few more tim...

Re: CQ HAZ Ham's (AKA Amateur Radio operators)
@Thoreau Thanks so much for the detailed response. I'll probably also consider some of the cheaper and smaller units, but it looks like they don't have as much power. The 8gr is spec'd at 9 ounces. I'm pretty sure I can find 9 ounces to remove from my pack. APRS wasn't something I was considering.....
