Re: electrolytes question
And no, I've never eaten a Banana upside down...I personally don't like hanging upside down to eat anything, it's hard to swallow.... :D I came to the forums because I wasn't sure if the "Pole Question" was asking if it was I or the banana was upside down. Me = No, Banana = Yes ... there ...

Re: When did Peak 2429 Phx Mountain Preserve become Dixie Pe
Wendi and I just noticed this post yesterday. I renamed this peak a long time ago, so that my Wendi could remember which one it was. I got it by referencing 2429 to the letters assigned to the telephone buttons..."Chaz Peak". Wendi refused to ever call it that, but if I spray paint that po...

Re: Biotite stove
I just heard about the Biolite on thee King's Canyon Outdoors Podcast. Has anyone (Nimrag) had a chance to develop an opinion yet. I already have both a solar charger and msr gas stove but still see the advantage of having something not dependant on the sun.

Re: POLL TOPIC: Is 50% of the liquid you consume carbonated
I agree with Chumley, beer doesn't count. I drink unfiltered beer mostly so I put that in the meal category. Sadly the Will N' Wendi team are getting in shape for Phantom Ranch that we have coming up in a few months so the beer is not on the menu. It's 2 cups of coffee, 1 OJ/V8 in the mornings then ...

Re: Linux Mavens? Using Garmin too!
] Qlandkarte is now Qlandkarte GT, http://www.qlandkarte.org/. The latest source code release was from this past Monday so it's not dead yet. I don't know if Ubuntu is keeping the package updated though. Edit: just read ubuntu doesn't keep it updated and qlandkarte authors recommend using a PPA at h...

Linux Mavens? Using Garmin too!
I have recently decided to make a move Linux, Ubuntu flavored. I would love to not to have to boot up Windows to interface with my GPSmap 76CSx but their Basecamp software is not compatible with linux. I am currently looking at Qlandkarte but it may no longer be supported though I am having some suc...

"Ingress" invite
Don't know if this is the right place to give stuff away but I recently won an Ingress invite on Android App Addicts, a podcast I listen to. I will not use the invite code, so if anyone is interested let me know. Ingress is the brain child of Google and requires a smart phone and more time than I ha...

Re: Geotagging Photos
Tagging these photos or any photos related to hike is no problem and I wouldn't want them removed. It's really exciting that this is a possibility with my current setup but I am just trying to figure out where access to this info is so that it can be restricted it if needed, and or so that I can tag...

Geotagging Photos
We recently purchased the Cannon Powershot sx150is. We have used it on probably a 1/2 dozen hikes. I have posted the pics from this camera many times but our most recent Gordon Creek Falls hike actually geotagged each photo, something it has never done. The only difference being that I posted the gp...

Also, my company on the trip is planning on rehydrating freeze-dried food for pretty much the whole the trip, just wondering what you all would recommend along those lines? I have heard you can dehydrated using your oven but another tip from my own experience is that plenty of dehydrators end up go...

Yes, and in right hand you should also be holding your shoes with the bottoms of the shoe facing the person you are greeting. If you do this exactly right you'll perfectly insult everyone you meetkevinweitzel75 wrote: Oh, only shake someones left hand

Re: Hiking post-MegaMillions
I would keep 2 million give the rest to charity. Buy a jeep and finally hit some of the more remote hikes. Invest in my aquaponics nonprofit... Honestly can't even think much bigger than that, that's why the rest would be to charity. Wendi however wants 2 more homes, well three cause she would get o...

Re: Sedona dayhike
I haven't yet settled on a must see hike unless you count West Fork of Oak Creek, though I was in awe hiking it in summer, I think most people consider that a fall hike and I am not sure that it fully represents Sedona the way most people think of Sedona. It's definitely a hard thing to choose, just...

Wilson Mountain is my favorite in the Sedona area. Unbelievable views: http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=88455 The image is from my hike on the Wilson Mountain North hike, but both Wilson Mountain & the North version end up at the same place. Oh, yeah! I just did that back in Nov. I didn't d...

I thought the only thing that would be funnier is if the house was his. Well this morning I heard about a lady who called in and reported that she was lost in the woods and could not find a bathroom. Re: Hike up to some Indian Ruins
@hikeaz Thanks! I am so glad I decided to go back over the details before attempting my Ruin site from Spur Cross via Black Mesa experiment. I guess I made some presumptions with it's "New River" nomination, the placement of the "Hike" marker and the mountains elevation being a ...

And to think this is being "planned" by one of the groups participating in the lawsuit for the so-called protection of the SF Peaks/Snowbowl. It reeks of hypocrisy Gotta say I am a little stunned too. I don't mind development and capitalization but a tram in the canyon versus reclaimed wa...
