POLL TOPIC: Is 50% of the liquid you consume carbonated or c

Post by kingsnake »

Not sure why every poll does not have an associated forum thread, but I felt the need to start one for this poll. :D

My answer? Yes. More like 90% carbonated :o , and of that at least 50% also caffeinated. (My non-caffeinated yet still carbonated drinks are almost entirely soda, not beer.) Why? Carbonation simply makes drinks much more refreshing.

In my case, usually, one coffee a day, though my first drink is always a Diet Dew. Then the rest of the day I alternate a caffeinated with decaf soda. Caffeine sodas are Diet Dew or Diet Cherry Pepsi; decaf are Diet A&W Root Beer, Diet 7-Up and Diet Vernor's Ginger Ale (by far the best). If I stop somewhere for fast food, it's a large Diet Pepsi (or Diet Coke if the chain has a Coke deal), with pink lemonade, usually 5:1 ratio. Some other lemonade if pink is not available. If no lemonade at all -- wth!? -- Hawaiin Punch, Orange Crush or whatever other non-cokish, vaguely fruit-flavored, sugar-water is available.

Mostly a Pepsi-product guy now, but spent 20 years as a Diet Coke guy until I burnt out on it. I have a more varied soda diet now. ;)

Prior to working decaf sodas into my rotation -- which I am pretty strict (i.e. pumpkin port) about the sequencing :oplz: -- I literally drank at least 100 oz of caffeine a day, for a good 25+ years. :scared:

My default beverage is unsweetened iced tea. I also drink a fair amount of coffee, but very few carbonated beverages. I will make an exception for real (non-diet) Vernor's, which I agree is the best. I used to drive back a couple cases from Michigan every few years.

As much as I drink, it's all gotta be diet (even Vernor's) or I would be that 700 pound guy on World's Biggest Loser ...

Water, filtered tap, is about 90 % or more of my fluid intake. I drink morning coffee, as well.

I've decided the easiest way to reduce my carbon footprint is to drink beverages without it. Except beer, which doesn't count. I also try not to breathe whenever possible. Anything I can do to help make the world a better place.

Seriously, I love water. I always have a large glass of water at my side. All day at work, when I get home, even on the nightstand. Usually in the car too.

Only time I drink significant quantities of water is when I am hiking, but even then first thing afterward is a fountain drink. (Assuming I am within firing range of a quickie mart / fast food joint). Otherwise, water bores me. Sad, but true. Your route is much healthier ...

I drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning, and occasionally one just after lunch. I keep water near me at all times and try to remember to drink a lot of it. I drink diet Pepsi for special occasions, such as going out to lunch, but rarely keep it at the house. I drink about one beer every two weeks, and sometimes open it and forget to finish it. Sometimes I drink half of it and give the rest to someone else. I used to drink mostly milk but now I have a glass of it only once in a while. I love orange juice if it is the real deal. I like most organic fruit juices, but they are expensive and full of sugar, even though it's natural. I love chocolate malts with extra malt but have had to quit those, too.

Now, that's some pretty boring information about me, the minutiae of my life........

I can't drink coffee  I have some crazy reactions to it. So get my caffeine fix from energy drinks and soda :D

I still manage to drink about a gallon of water a day.

Unfortunately I can no longer drink alcohol due to health reasons :tt: I was once a great lover of beer but sadly no more....

Not needing anything to get me going in the morning I have no need for caffeine. And over a dozen years ago when I started with more organic and natural foods I pretty much quit the carbonated drinks.
:SB:
Diet sodas?? One of the worst things for weight control. Tracey is a diet tech at Banner and a big part of her job is tracking what the patients (as well as their families) eat/drink and over the long run has found the ones drinking diet drinks have more weight issues (and many morbidly obese) than those drinking non-diet drinks. With no calories in the soda the body still needs them and the end result is that the majority tend to eat more as a result.

Another big problem is the empty/non-nutritional calories in junk food... and I don't just mean fast food, but also the processed foods on the grocery shelves.

I don't drink soda to get me going in the morning, I drink it to keep my veins inflated.

WRONG!!!! You have obviously been drinking the WRONG carbonated beverages. My carbonated beverage of choice does amazing "thangs" for my view of the world. Granted it doesn't do much for my chronic state of dehydration, but I'll save yooz guys the details on the hue of my urine.

I agree with Chumley, beer doesn't count. I drink unfiltered beer mostly so I put that in the meal category. Sadly the Will N' Wendi team are getting in shape for Phantom Ranch that we have coming up in a few months so the beer is not on the menu. It's 2 cups of coffee, 1 OJ/V8 in the mornings then water through out the day, and at night, when not conditioning, 3 - 4 maybe 6 beers depending on how closely the wife is watching. On hikes it is water and a juice box for lunch.

I drink about 1.5 gallons fluid daily... more if the hike has been on the hotter/longer side. I love to start the day out with a diet energy drink... If it is a long hike I dilute a half gallon of OJ with half gallon tap water and drink that over the 9-12 hours of the outing. If I think about it, I do a thermos of simple hot cocoa (baking cocoa/powdered dry milk/stevia blended with hot water)... I'll occasionally buy a two liter diet soda to drink on a rest day, but more often, tap water with lemonade powder (12 cents for two quarts) and stevia.

I've never had a cup of coffee...

I drank a beer in 2013.

Years ago, I had monthly wine budget (mostly for sparkling wine... that's carbonated!) of $600 !

I tend to juice/blend citrus and veggies and fruit for food three or four days weekly (Magic Bullet!!!)

...but... I'm old... and dull.
