Re: Most aesthetically pleasing National Parks?

I think the Bison must agree with you as it looks like they were trying to find a way out! That was probably it. You should have see the small pickup that had gone past us thinking he could force the bison out of his way. The last I saw him he was a good hundred yards behind us and still backing up...

Re: Most aesthetically pleasing National Parks?

Biggest surprise on the list is Theodore Roosevelt. During a visit to Theodore Roosevelt we were met by hundreds of bison walking along the road. We just sat there in our car and they split to walk inches on either side. For 15 to 30 minutes I kept thinking if one of them turned their head we were ...

An Australian friend's daughter is doing a Year 12 school research project on hiking, specifically backpacking. She is trying to get input from different cultures and that sounds like us. Her question is: “What information should be included in a nutritional guide to assist families in preparing for...

Can I arrange to have one of the two extra spots in your car? I can meet you most anywhere. It sounds like an interesting hike.

Re: Lane Mountain Loop via Crown King Back Road

Checked it out on the topo and Google Earth I'd better pass on it, it would ruin the hike to get stuck. Sounds like it'll be a good hike. Enjoy.

I'll also need your address and directions if it's hard to find. With as many people going should we meet in a mall parking lot so you don't have 6 cars parked at your house all day?

Re: SPOT

I use the same URL for all hikes, it's easier for those tracking, so before each hike I delete all locations from my previous hike. To do this, from "My GPS Location" on the spot web site, just click on the little box at the left of the headings. Then click "Delete GPS locations"...

Excuse my confusion, but is this hike on April 3rd or April 10th? I am interested either way. What time are we meeting at the First Water TH?

Re: Peralta TH

I hate to hear of these problems. After a day or more of hiking the last thing desired is to get back to the vehicle and have it damaged or even worse unusable. Sorry to hear of the problem.

Re: Cairns, Summit Registers & Geocaches... in the Wilderness?

When I see a cairn I think of it as a suggested path to take. I then assume it's my responsibility to evaluate that suggestion before committing myself. Some are misleading or even down right dangerous. But more times than not they have helped point me in the right direction. And a few have probably...
