Questionnaire on nutrition
An Australian friend's daughter is doing a Year 12 school research project on hiking, specifically backpacking. She is trying to get input from different cultures and that sounds like us.
Her question is:
“What information should be included in a nutritional guide to assist families in preparing for a multi-day bushwalk and how can learning from other cultures help?”
Attached is a questionnaire if you care to participate then PM the results to me. Thank you for your help.

Re: Questionnaire on nutrition
@Mike Fels
I will try to do one and send you, my duty as teacher I guess...found the survey interesting, just the different wording..taking a "walk" must be synonymous with hiking in Australia..for example, it asks how much food do you bring on a multi-day walk?

Well, I'm thankful it didn't say "trek." Gawd, how I hate that word! We're Americans, we hike and we backpack. Trekking is when you pay some poor Sherpa a pittance to carry all your crap while you mosey along with a daypack in Nepal.friendofThundergod wrote:@Mike Fels

Re: Questionnaire on nutrition
You've heard that one from me before! Today I didn't go hiking, maybe I need to get out there, work out the grumps. And I'll take my two hiking poles, thank you very much.joe bartels wrote:@azbackpackr stop holding back, tell us how you really feel

Re: Questionnaire on nutrition
@azbackpackr

trek:
(N) a long arduous journey, esp. one made on foot.
"a trek to the South Pole"
(v) go on a long arduous journey, typically on foot.
I guess you and webster disagreeTrekking is when you pay some poor Sherpa a pittance to carry all your crap while you mosey along with a daypack in Nepal.

I was going to respond exactly as you did Joe. To bad one can't "like" something multiple times....joe bartels wrote:@azbackpackr stop holding back, tell us how you really feel

Re: Questionnaire on nutrition
What Webster says and how people use the term in outdoor parlance are two different things. No one goes "trekking" in Grand Canyon, at least, not with ME!
