Re: Hiking pain and pill popping
I'm with Jason (except for the beer part :) ) I think the problem with pill popping is that you could end up injuring yourself MORE if you don't know were the pain is coming from, or if there is pain. I've twisted my ankle so hard so many times that I involuntarily cry it hurts so badly, but I just ...

You can crawl it if you want to! :P That's what they said anyway. I think you just have 9 hours to finish. It's a bit over 31 miles.

Arizona Trail Association event
Anyone want to do this with me? I signed up for the 1/2 marathon, because as much as I'd love to do the 50K, I'm not sure my body would run for that long! https://www.facebook.com/events/1398203346860024/?ref=1&action_history=%5B%7B%22surface%22%3A%22permalink%22%2C%22mechanism%22%3A%22sur...

If you combine this with potential day hikers, like you mentioned in John's triplog, I'd do that.

When you say "start hiking" at 5 am, does that mean at the TH at 5 am or meeting time 5 am?? If it's the earlier, that's an ungodly 3 something meet time??

Re: Lost Gear?
Unfortunately, it was stolen in a Denny's parking lot!!! :( That was the carpool area, and when I went back, I went inside & asked if some kind Samaritan turned it in - nope. Checked the nearby Fry's as well with the same luck. We had seen some seedy looking guy wandering the parking lot as we w...

Re: Lost Gear?
I lost one sandal hiking out of Havasupai as well. But the worst was when I lost EVERYTHING - my entire backpack and all it's contents. It was stolen actually. After coming back from South Canyon Route, at the carpool spot, the driver carried my backpack over to my Jeep as I was heading back to his ...

I wonder what the other top 5ers, who are all well above me in both elevation and mileage, would do if they found themselves with out their regular hike? I would have to re-join a gym, and count the floors of stairs I climb with the dogs in the summer at the high rise...........?????!!!!! :o

Of course it counts, it's gain, not change. I'm interested in doing this, but am not sure when I could do it. Things seem to be booking up mighty fast. Lemmon has been on my bucket list and I can't believe I haven't done it yet!

I was interested in doing a backpack too, but work has come up, and I'd need to be back Sat. Now that I see some are day hiking, I am interested as well. I'm in the same area @laztazam - maybe I can hook up with you.

Re: getting a dog to walk on trail
Not to sound like a downer or anything, but some dogs are just not hikers. Why can't you just take your dog on a walk and then go hike yourself? Not sure why the dog has to prevent you from hiking. Personally, my dog loves to hike, but there are a lot of hikes I don't take him on due to the terrain....
