Re: More Stupid Hiker Tricks

@cactuscat That sounded like me when my friend and I hiked the Garden Wall in Glacier National Park. We went off thinking that the day would become warmer, but it rained and got much colder and windy. We had on cotton clothes and dressed for the summer. We were so cold and itchy when we returned. U...

Re: Western Drought

I do my part by giving water to snakes, lizards, tortoises, and occasionally baby birds and rabbits, if I can catch them. We don't feel the drought as much or at all, but they do.

@LindaAnn
You must have some good stories to tell about South Mtn. The weirdest people that I've seen hiking was Glacier National Park. Fear of bears makes people stupid - mostly because we are sheltered and out of touch with nature.

Re: Hiker Stabs Mountain Biker in Right-of-Way Altercation

We experienced a year of long-term stress from a threat that we cannot see, smell, or detect in anyway. This has caused society to be on guard for the majority of our days, along with unemployment, a divided gov't, and no timeline when the pandemic would end. There's a neurological reason why people...

Re: Snake Gaiters -worth it?

I'm thinking about getting them, but not just for snake bites. I am allergic to a plant in the desert that makes my calves itch and swell when my skin gets in contact with it. It only happened in the spring after a wet winter. I don't know what plant it is. It's not scorpion weed or buffelgrass.

The most beautiful thing about internet forums is that all of the critical thinking, constructive criticism, and political tolerance is displayed by others.

I was at Madera from Saturday evening to Monday. I didn't have trouble finding a parking spot, and I parked at the end.

Why did you say, "Oh Sorry Phoenicians...?" We're you triggered because I wasn't sure that hogs were in AZ? I added Yuma when mentioning water snakes, so I don't understand your microaggression that Western Az isn't a part of AZ.

a) Hey, my mom/dad/parents love that song.
b) Hey, just an FYI... The ranger is up ahead. You might get a ticket for playing loud music on the trail.
c) You might want to turn down your music I just saw a rattlesnake coiled up on the trail.
