Re: our friend John Scott ( johnr1 ) hit by boulder in Upper

So sorry to hear that we lost such a wonderful person, friend and HAZ'er. I never met John but through your comments I feel as if I had. My deepest sympathies to all his friends and especially his family.

Re: Flatiron - Tree near the top gone?

The tree trunk was still there and usable a couple weeks ago when I was up there (I used it coming down!). Not sure what happened to the rest of the tree!!

Parking & Access between Mining Camp and Broadway TH's

Re: Trekking Poles

Costco down here (CC & Baseline) has 2-packs for around $25 again. Fully adjust, shock and extended grips. Mine weight about 1/2 lb each, got them last year and they've been great, especially having the extended grip. Not that that helps you up there! But maybe you have some Valley connections!?! If...

GC Village construction/parking

Just an FYI if you're headed into the Village: the area around the cabins/dirt parking lot west of the lodges and south of Kolb Studio is closed for construction/paving. Check the NPS website for the complete map!

Re: Alternate access to Camelback/Echo

I was just there on Sunday and had to use the shuttle that runs on the weekends. It's $5 round-trip/person. It is located on the SE corner of Invergorden/Lincoln (watch for the signs). You call when you get down and they swing over to pick you up, if they aren't already there! Pretty nice deal, beat...
