Re: Tonto NF and Land Management

Interesting that Inciweb removed the fire perimeter for this fire.

Re: Bush Fire

@nonot
I'm using Mapping Support, not NASA's fire map and it has been very accurate in the past. It does show it both to the west of 87 near Sunflower and across Tonto Creek. I hope it is wrong, but I doubt it.

I'd link to it but don't want to be branded a spammer.

Re: Bush Fire

@ALMAL why wouldn't there be? 188 is going to be a critical fire line. Getting past that is going to unleash hell into the AZ backcountry. We've already lost that entire triangle between 87, 188 and the Salt, I can't imagine if it escapes beyond that.

Re: Hiker Missing In Cherry Creek Area

So sorry to hear @outdoor_lover. I figured someone on here knew them when I heard of the area involved, not a spot that beginners would go.

Hoping for a miracle.

Invasive Species Science Project

Hey fellow HAZers, my daughter has a science project to study invasive plant species, does anyone know of any place close to Chandler where I can dig up some Buffelgrass and any other invasive grasses?

My hunch is closest would be the Supes or Goldfields. Ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@chumley agreed it is rare and glad it's still relatively wet up there but people are stupid, that's my main point. I'm not against beneficial fire management, it's a no-brainer, it's just many campers are careless and it seems like a good idea to limit campfire use until the monsoons come in full ...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@chumley also throw in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest on top of the Rim and it gets even more confusing. I think the transition to Coconino is right on the east side of Knoll lake, so there's 3 governing bodies in that general area. Frankly I'm shocked that both Coconino and Apache-Sitgreave...

@hikeaz I didn't think the Coldwater Fire moved that far north.
