Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@chumley agreed it is rare and glad it's still relatively wet up there but people are stupid, that's my main point. I'm not against beneficially fire management, it's a no-brainer, it's just many campers are careless and it seems like a good idea to limit campfire use until the monsoons come in ful...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@chumley also throw in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest on top of the Rim and it gets even more confusing. I think the transition to Coconino is right on the east side of Knoll lake, so there's 3 governing bodies in that general area. Frankly I'm shocked that both Coconino and Apache-Sitgreave...

Re: Kinder Crossing after the Tinder Fire

@hikeaz I didn't think the Coldwater Fire moved that far north.

Re: Kinder Crossing after the Tinder Fire

Bump. Anyone yet? Curious how badly the Tinder fire burned up the area last summer.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

Reavis Mountain School and Campaign Creek post fire. Not horrible, maybe some of the larger trees and riparian areas survived. I'm still worried about all the springs in the burn area though. https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/65436695_10157308282224696_7208426093152305152_n.jpg?_nc_cat=1...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

I thought Fish Creek was gonna escape but looks like the fire is headed back around to engulf it. Too sad!

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@nonot looks like fire is already all around Reavis Mountain School as of earlier today. Hopefully they did get that buffer cleared out.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

Fire is closing in on Reavis Falls. Glad I got out there in March to see it in all it's glory before the whole area burns.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@JosephElfelt thank you for your efforts to keep everyone informed!

Question for you, what constitutes a “Complex Point” in the fire? Is it rough terrain?

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@big_load agreed this could fundamentally change the hydrology of the Supes, and people’s ability to hike it with fewer reliable water sources.

I think the person who did this should be put to death, is that too harsh?

It's down in Fish Creek already, damn it! Rapidly approaching Tortilla Flats and Canyon Lake. I'm literally at a loss for words with this.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

Ugh, this is looking like it has the potential to take out the majority of the Supes. They will never be the same.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

at 4,000+ now but the fire detection looks like it's moving to the Southwest hopefully away from the eastern Supes forests.
