Telegraph Fire (Noon, June 5)

The Forest Service has ordered a Type 1 Incident Management Team and additional resources to work on the Telegraph Fire, burning about 10 miles south of Superior, Arizona.
Terrain and weather conditions aided the fire’s growth and it is now estimated at 7,000 acres.

A Red Flag warning is in effect this weekend. The fire has resulted in the closure of Highway 177 approximately three miles south of Superior.

Currently fire managers’ primary objectives include minimizing the impact of fire to firefighters, public safety for Superior residents, and protecting natural resources. Today firefighters are working to keep the fire south of Forest Road 203.

Another post indicates that air tankers are supporting both Telegraph and Mescal fires simultaneously.

Oak Flat now under "go" evacuation status as part of a Forest Closure that includes Picketpost and AZT #17.

Highway 70 closed in both directions near Bylas for a brush fire now too.

Also SR 77 is closed now between Winkelman and Hwy 70.

And now US 60 is closed east of Superior too (though it's due to a crash and not the fire) making that whole area a big dead end with no alternative routes.

Ugh, burning over the 5 Pools in Devil's. I suppose Oak Flat is a goner now too. Depressing.

Hwy 60 remains closed from Superior to Miami. Residents in closure area will be allowed to leave however, once you do leave you will not be allowed back into closure area. Top of the World community remains in a "Set" status. Additional information about road closure will be posted in the morning.

Looks like SR hwy 77 is open between Globe and Winkelman; Hwy 70 opened between Globe and Safford although there is some contradiction on inciweb as to some area restrictions. SR 177 remains closed south of Superior.
