Re: Royal Arch Route Trip Coming Up...
We drove back from South Bass TH yesterday-it is fine. Got caught by the Hualapai not at the gate but 100ft from where you turn north from Pasture Wash. Glad to pay $25. There was a woman who busted her leg just below the rabbit hole last week requiring helicopter evac.

Re: Reavis / Rogers loop
We did this loop in November -camped at Reavis Ranch and then at Angel Basin. We lost Frog Tanks near where it turns south and we stayed in the creek bed for 1/2 mile bushwhacking -the trail goes up to Frog Tanks before descending to Rogers Canyon

Re: Aravaipa Flash Flood & Rescues
We went in from the west on Sept 14th. Camped at Horse Camp Canyon-area clear. Some deep pools and lots of debris above streambed. I heard flow gauge was off and recent flood was 4000cfs. Anyway, it did catch people unawares judging by the amount of tent debris we collected -pieces from 3 different ...

I do a 500ml blood dump every three months-I think my recovery time is about 3-4 days.

Re: Favorite Water Treatment?
When we did Royal Arch I took along a lifestraw which I used to check the salinity of water source before using the Sawyer Squeeze. If I suspect the water sources will be small puddles I tend to take my MSR filter as it is easy to pump.

I met a girl down by the lower Salt River who was traipsing all about the bush looking for wild horses. I asked her about gaitors and she informed me that there were no gators in Arizona..true story

I use Vasque trail shoes at the moment -even when backpacking. Lightweight and no blisters. I would consider boots hiking in snow.

Re: Backpacking Etiquette During Hunting Season
If I am hiking up north this time of year I do check on the different units. 5A/5B had cow elk this weekend. I have an orange mesh vest with reflectors on it that I use for night biking that I will wear if concerned -lightweight too..

Re: Phantom Ranch moving to Lottery?
I like what Delaware have done with Yavapai-somewhere to drink if it is raining in Mather. Not sure if a new company at Phantom would lower beer prices for punters or just give NPS a bigger slice of the profits.
