Yes usually I yield to bikes because it is easier but on rare occasions I have had the experience where the biker just assumed the right of way and I didn't yield. This is a very rare, usually everyone is quite courteous.

Re: Trail Blazes
on a slightly different note , does anyone know what the orange or blue paint markings are for in the coconino national forest Some trees have one orange stripe some two or three. I assume this is some marking for logging but couldn't get a good answer.

Re: Trail Blazes
That particular one means trail continues forward if the top blaze is to the right slightly it means trail goes right to the left slightly trail turns left. I have seen these on trails around Arizona and wondered the same thing so I looked up trail blaze markings on the internet under Trail blaze ma...

Monsoon means change of direction meaning the weather comes in from the south rather than the north. By the definition this is a monsoon and though not as large ad the ones in Asia still a monsoon. Recognized by the meteorologist.

Re: Who Drives or Drove a Jeep
I had a 1966 Toyota land cruiser back in the 70's and 80's, Actually they called it a chevota, V8 chevy engine. Loved that vehicle but it was a rough ride. In 2016 I got a jeep JK and although it took a while for me to warm up to it and a month or two to drive it without a paper bag over my head, I ...

Re: FR 172 & 172A to Rogers Trough TH
Has anyone gone to rogers Trough via what I believe is NF 650 near Superior and up over Montana Mountain then to Rogers Trough. When I was on the Arizona Trail I walked a bit of this and looked like a good road.

That's good because I got mine in January also. I doubt I will be using these much in May or June though. I have an appointment with Dome mountain and if it ever stops raining I'll be able to keep it. Not Complaining about the rain though.

I watched that document after running into two people up on the Kaibab plateau that were doing that hike a few years back. I believe the they were interviewed during that documentary.

Re: Off Trail/Route finding skills - how to learn/where to start?
I don't believe there is a class that teaches route finding skills and if there is it is probably not as good as just boots on the ground experience. Map reading is a good start but usually only on the greater scale of things. My suggestion is just get out and do it but start small and work up as yo...

Re: Hiking with Dogs in the Tucson area
@RowdyandMe
I posted a picture of a person caring her dog in a pack on her back on a no dogs trail, I believe this would be legal since they are not actually on the trail. Of coarse Rowdy is a bit big for that and I get the impression wouldn't be too keen on the idea either.

Thanks for the info I will try them. I found it hard to find electrolytes that don't have more vitamins than electrolytes. Not looking for vitamin supplements.

Re: What's the best GPS?
I have used the Garmin 650T for the last 8 years and never had an issue except forgetting to turn it on (no fix for stupid). The other issue and it probably applies to all who aren't caring around a lap top the map can be like looking at an elephant from a straw. I don't like the compass on it becau...
