Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
I am willing to run the command post if everyone wants. If someone wants to do this it is great. Sounds good to me, it's been suggested over on AZH as well. According to a SAR person I spoke with yesterday, the visibility is about 10' in the search area. Anyone planning on going absolutely must hav...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
A small group of us from AZH are going out early Saturday AM and will be searching Saturday and Sunday. We will be car camping somewhere in the area. I have multiple FRS radios to lend out if need be but no reliable GPS. If anyone wants to set up teams to scan and be safe let me know. Suggestions fo...

I'd hoped to get a response like that from HAZ, but the October post didn't generate much interest. Maybe now that winter has set in, and the hikers are gathered 'round the hearth, they'll think about us... Post this over on arizonahikers.com and on azwilderness.com for a little more exposure. You ...

Re: prospect/mine?
Does anyone have coordinates for the mine on this trail. I've hiked it twice and haven't been able to spot the redish rock indicating the entrance. Thanks There's a small one on the Duthman's Trail right after attaining the first big ridge on your left (west side). There used to be an old mustard j...

I've thought about doing something similar to this in the spring. Here's some links to information I've found out about it.

In response to Trans tech's reply: As I said before, what was it known as before 1903? Why can't we call it that? It was named something even more unacceptable and unmentionable by today's standards. I won't repeat it here but look for it in "Squaw Peak A Hiker's Guide". http://hikearizon...

We did this as a dayhike last year. Depending on which trail you take, it could end up around 16 miles. At least that's what my GPS read. We didn't check out the ruins as I didn't know where they were.

Jerome to Perkinsville and such
The drive from Jerome to Perkinsville can be done in less than an hour with a couple of stops. The drive from Perkinsville to the end of FR 181 is around two hours or more depending on how hard you want to pound your vehicle and how many stops along the way. A Prescott area trip would ber nice too. ...

Per usual I sent out emails and got everyone on the same page. I have the Backcountry Adventures book that I had used to drive in there before, so I took the reins and we all had a blast. How did you guys go about this trip, did someone lead and or organize?

A group of nine of us did a great trip two weekends ago. We went up through Jerome through Perkinsville to Sycamore Canyon to hike to some ruins I had been to before. http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/modules.php?set_albumName=album06&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_...

great dog and such
He looks like a great dog, I wish I had the time and space to keep him. He does look like he's got some Springer in him, I've owned four. Besides which, I don't think a full true Border Collie would sit still long enough to take those pictures. Ask the dog/goat master Hooli.
