I had quite a bit overnight in Tempe, but just some wind and clouds today.
Last night was heavy enough to wake me up a couple of times.

Damn; did this involve two people? Think I may have seen something about it through a friend of a friend if so. Any details on the trail/off-trail excursion? I found a good description on another board. Description of Event: On December 30th, 2021, three experienced canyoneers entered the rugged Su...

Re: Coconino NF proposes trailhead transit expansion
I took my parents up to Sedona recently and the Boynton Canyon trailhead is an absolute ZOO now that the Subway is so widely known (some joker even added it to Google Maps). I'd say they need to consider that for some sort of expansion/shuttle after seeing Devils Bridge levels of cars stretched out ...

Yikes. I was just there over Labor Day weekend. I'll be very interested to see what they can find out. Edit: There's now an obituary that states that she fell from a waterfall. I haven't seen this information reported elsewhere. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/peninsuladailynews/name/alissa-lof...

@nonot
Those are great points.
I don't mind getting a little wet or having to hunker down for a short amount of time. I guess my big question is how gnarly can a monsoon get up around 6,000'-8,000'?

Rincons and Weather
I have a Labor Day trip planned for Saguaro East and am looking for some input with regard to the forecast. I know we're not all meteorologists, but I don't have any experience with the range and monsoon weather. I might as well ask the questions now rather than Friday night! I'll be monitoring thro...

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Now that we're actually getting somewhat regular precipitation, where does everyone find reliable forecast info for planning trips during Monsoon season? Also, I'm I correct in assuming that I should stay out of West Clear Creek if there's even a slight chance of rain in the area or upstream? Or am ...

Re: 2021 Fire Restrictions
This is only my 3rd summer out here, and I can't recall the last two having this many closures this early on.
Where does everyone typically look to backpack when this sort of thing happens? Is out of state or (literally) greener pastures the only real option?

Re: Foot gear survey - What are your favorite's?
I'll preface this by saying that I lived in Western NC for 10 years before making the jump to AZ. My Chacos get a lot of comments out here, something that never happened on the east coast. What is your favorite foot gear under the following conditions? 1. Short, or easy terrain hikes - The aforement...

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Weather statistics are often compared to "normal" values (was this year warmer than "normal"?) and those values are based on the averages over the last 30-year period. That 30-year period resets every decade, and since 2021 starts a new decade, the new "normal" values ...
